Sonic Saturday
with Jessica Caplan & Basia Blonska
Sat Feb 27
Pure Yoga WEST
4:30-6pm
We are vibrational beings. Quantum physics tells us that everything in the Universe is energy, vibrating at different frequencies. Sound baths incorporate instruments with healing frequencies to re-tune body and mind, encourage relaxation, and stimulate the imagination to go on an inward journey. This transformative, deeply meditative 90-minute experience of sound and music opens with breath work to set up body and mind for relaxation. You’re then guided into a supported pose, which allows you to melt into the soothing waves of vibration.
For February’s Sonic Saturday, Jessica invites her musical collaborator Basia Blonska, a classically trained flutist originally from Poland who has performed in orchestras and ensembles around the world. Jessica and Basia graduated together from the Open Center’s Sound and Music Institute in 2014, a programme which offers different modalities of healing through music and sound. Jessica and Basia have since created soundscapes together for cancer patients, yoga classes and sound baths, and were recently featured playing together in a CBS Local segment on sound healing.
The soundscape will feature Himalayan and crystal bowls, tuning forks, shrutti box, ethereal vocals, chimes, gong and shamanic instruments.
This practice is suitable for everyone! No experience necessary.
